INDIGENOUS PARTNERSHIPS

PARTNERSHIPS

Indigenous Woman Graduates IHE

Our commitment to Indigenous communities

IHE would like to acknowledge that our corporate office, as well as our training sites are located on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan, Treaty 6, and Treaty 7 people of Canada.

We are committed to facilitating training to employment for Indigenous students through means that are suitable to the communities. We will collaborate and consult with our Indigenous partners to create specific training programs that meet required needs.

For groups of 10 or more students, IHE is able to bring the necessary equipment, instructors and theory sessions to the community thereby allowing students to remain in their homes for the duration of their training.

For smaller groups, IHE can customize a training program that will incorporate not only requisite training, but also include travel, accommodation and a meal plan for students travelling to our sites for training.

"We are the common meeting ground where people, projects and professionals collide. We work with the biggest contractors around, for example Coastal Gas Link, and we also help the one-machine, one-person show, who needs a lift along the way to learn and go."

HEO SUPERVISION TO A WORK SITE LOCATION

This service is offered to our partners to support during active operations, including HEO oversight related to equipment operations, safety, and care and maintenance. Additionally, Field HEO Trainer Supervisors on site help monitor, flag and instruct operators to enhance efficiencies on the jobsite.

HEO Assessments & Observations On Site

This service provides a natural “Evaluation” period, whereby an IHE HEO Trainer (HT) may observe and evaluate workers as they perform their normal job duties. Possible outcomes are identifying those eligible for HEO competency testing and sign-off, best practice tips on job tasks shared, safety items flagged and/or enhanced, and increased worker morale and production efficiency. Clients seeking this service normally book in one or two-week increments to have a goal of identifying the current workforce capabilities – strengths and weaknesses. In a situation where the sector/job is quite specific, and the operator numbers are below three or fewer, this work can be performed in a day. Sometimes, in settings such as a mine shutdown for maintenance or other high-risk environments, operators will attend IHE sites as an alternative to provide a safe, controlled environment.

HEO Certifications – Competency & Testing Proof

This service time blocks a “Testing” period, whereby pre-qualified employees (that also meet the minimum # of machine qualifying operating hours), are assessed by the (HT) on talent and skill competencies on the equipment they run. Each machine requires a separate testing time block. Depending on the experience of the HEOs, and the specific job setting, it is realistic to certify 4 to 6 operators on average/day, depending on machine type(s).
